Pineapple Pear Tree (Pyrus communis ‘Pear’)

The Pineapple pear tree is robust and grows vigorously. It yields fruits that are small to medium in size and are typically harvested in the late summer. The fruit of the Pineapple pear is crisp and juicy, with a pineapple-like flavor, making it ideal for preserves.

Sunlight: Full sun minimum 6 hours daily

Soil: Well-drained loamy soil slightly acidic with a pH level 6.0 to 7.0.

Water: Water weekly until established. Water established trees deeply as needed. You may need to water more often in times of extreme heat or drought.

Fertilize:  Fertilize annually with a balanced fertilizer.

The Pineapple pear is a hardy and vigorous growing tree that blooms in early spring with fragrant white flowers. It produces small to medium sized fruit that are harvest in late summer. This Pineapple pear is crisp, juicy and has pineapple flavored flesh. It is excellent for preserves.

Plant in full sun and well-drained loamy soil. The Pineapple Pear tree is not self-fertile and will require cross-pollination. Planting two or more varieties will provide the best cross-pollination. Average height is 25′ and width 15′ to 20′. Required Chill Hours: 150. USDA hardiness zone 5 – 9.
