Tilton Apricot Tree (Prunus sect. Armeniaca ‘Tilton’)

The Tilton Apricot tree produces high yields of slightly heart shaped golden color fruit with a red blush. The freestone fruit is known for its sweet taste with just a touch of tartness. An excellent choice for eating fresh as well as canning, freezing, dehydrating and making jam.

Sunlight: Full sun minimum 6 hrs per day.

Soil: Well-drained loamy or sandy soil.

Water: Water weekly until established. Water established trees deeply as needed.

Fertilizer: Use a balanced fertilizer in the spring.

The Tilton Apricot tree is a compact heritage variety that blooms in mid-spring with sweetly fragrant pink flowers. The freestone fruit ripens in mid-summer resulting in high yields of slightly heart shaped golden color fruit with a red blush. The Tilton’s fruit is known for its sweet taste with just a touch of tartness. An excellent choice for eating fresh as well as canning, freezing, dehydrating and making jam.

Plant in full sun in well-drained sandy or loamy soil. The Tilton apricot is self-pollinating, but planting pollinating partners can increase the size of your crops. Average height 15′ – 25′ and width 15′ – 25′. Required Chill Hours: 600-700. USDA hardiness zone 6 – 8.
